School Direct: Primary Personal stories
Personal story: Tom Wrigley
I love working with children and I want to be that teacher who makes learning fun! Primary teaching appealed particularly because it allows you to teach and build children’s confidence in a rich variety of subjects.
For me, Trinity TSA stood out because the prospectus was very clear and direct. And while interviews can often be stressful, I really enjoyed the one at Trinity: the staff who interviewed me were friendly and welcoming, and they calmed my nerves which gave me confidence – even when I was teaching a class for 15 minutes as part of the process.
While studying for my History degree at uni, I did lots of presenting in front of large audiences – valuable experience and a really useful skill for teaching. Now I’m really looking forward to teaching classes on my own. In fact, I can’t wait!
Personal story: Nahida Begum
As an English Language and Literature graduate with a passion to inspire the younger generation, I always imagined myself as a teacher. On graduating, I worked in a Primary Teaching Assistant role to build my confidence and experience and to prepare myself financially.
After researching various PGCE routes I came across TTSA and immediately knew they were the right choice for me. The Alliance continues to be extremely welcoming, reassuring and informative. It stood out from the rest because of their individually tailored support and high quality training (such as the programmes delivered by White Rose Maths, part of the Trinity family). I look forward to the year ahead feeling prepared, confident and reinforced – ready to sit behind the teacher’s desk as opposed to sitting in front of it!
My one piece of advice to those considering teacher training is to consider that you have the amazing opportunity to create a lasting impact in children’s lives: isn’t that worth the commitment?
Personal story: Storm Stewart
I chose to accept a place on the Primary course because of the way I was supported during the interview process.
I was really nervous throughout the entire interview, but especially during the teaching part of the process. Olly immediately made me feel at ease. She was really friendly and answered all my questions and worries. I’m really looking forward to starting my course with Trinity TSA in September!
