This programme develops practitioners’ phonics skills using a variety of fascinating techniques and approaches – environmental, instrumental, body percussion, rhythm and rhyme, alliteration, oral blending and segmentation.
Innovative, exciting and supportive, this phonics programme is aimed at all Early Years practitioners with pupils due to start reception class this September. Training will be delivered over two afternoons, with a gap task in which delegates will try out new strategies in their own settings.
The programme will:
- provide delegates with the essential skills for preparing children for formal phonics teaching
- help staff to expand their repertoire of teaching strategies and deliver engaging, high quality Phase 1 phonics sessions
- give children a great preparation for reception class (in line with Bold Beginnings) and build strong foundations for reading and writing
- offer delegates a wealth of resources and practical ideas to take away.
