Succeeding in the first year: secondary development programme for NQTs

Effective support for NQTs is crucial to them becoming confident practitioners who are able to provide children and young people with an outstanding educational experience. Following the ongoing success of our primary NQT programme, which is now in its 6th year, we are pleased to introduce our NEW secondary NQT support programme.

The programme commences in September 2017 and runs throughout the year. It has been designed to support every aspect of a secondary NQTs first year, both professionally and personally. The programme aims to support staff to become outstanding practitioners.

Key aspects of the programme include:
• Content based on the Teachers’ Standards, with a focus on ensuring that NQTs continue to develop the skills and knowledge to succeed and engage pupils through effective practice.
• Taught learning with gap tasks to support reflective practice.

• Bespoke secondary content exploring key aspects of outstanding practice, including participating in learning walks and supported lesson observations, plus a visit to a special school.
• Opportunities to network with other NQTs.
